Links And Information

Here are a couple of websites with useful material, and, of course, once you poke around on the sites you will find other hidden treasures.

If you are looking for prayers or readings for a specific day, here are some electronic links to the liturgical cycle of the Church:
  • http://www.easterbrooks.com/personal/calendar - Most comprehensive treatment; provides the readings of the day; links to various sites to give background on a particular feast day; information on mysteries of the rosary; a programmable setting that tells you what we will celebrate liturgically up to the year 4099! This is an American site therefore the readings are from the New American Bible.
  • http://www.devotions.net/bible/00old.htm - The Canadian Church uses the New Revised Standard Version of the Bible. To get an NRSV translation you can go to http://www.devotions.net/bible/00old.htm On several occasions we will celebrate a different feast day than our U.S. brethren so if you want dates in 2005 click on "2004 yearly calendar" and it will take you to a setting that resembles "
  • http://www.universalis.com/cgi-bin/display/readings.htm - This provides a quick scan on the month and the readings; also provides the prayers from the "Liturgy of the Hours" (the official prayer book of the Church); in the "Office of the Readings," part of the Liturgy of the Hours, you will find great short essays written by the Doctors and Saints of the Church.
  • http://icalshare.com/article.php?story=20031011174140291 - This is interesting, it provides a downloadable Canadian liturgical desk calendar (for a price); scroll down on the blue essay titled "Catholic Liturgical Calendar (Canada)" to the three links.Bishops of Canada
