Dear SACHS and VJM Families,

We hope this message finds you well as we prepare for another school year. We want to inform you about ongoing construction in the vicinity of École Secondaire St. Albert Catholic High School and Vincent J. Maloney Catholic Junior High School that may impact your daily routines.

The City of St. Albert has notified us that due to an evolving project scope, the need for utility replacement on Mont Clare Place and Mount Royal Drive has been identified, with road reconstruction work rescheduled to 2024.

  • The sanitary sewer system on Mount Royal Drive was replaced in 2023. In 2024, additional work will include replacing the water main, water services (to the property line), sanitary sewer services, and installing a new storm sewer system.
  • On Mont Clare Place, the water main, water services (to property line), and sanitary sewer system will also be replaced in 2024.

We understand this necessary work may cause some inconvenience, especially during school drop-off and pick-up times. To ensure safety and smooth traffic flow, please follow these guidelines:

  • Please follow the designated signage and note that traffic will flow one way through the parking lot (click here to view the map)
  • All school buses will load/unload along the North side of Malmo Avenue from the SACHS entrance to Marchand Place.
  • Parent drop-off/pick-up will occur in front of VJM and/or SACHS. No drop-off on Malmo Avenue during construction.
  • Expect delays during peak times; please drive at 10 km/h in the construction zone.
  • The SACHS bus lane is for SACHS student drop-off/pick-up only, and the loop in front of VJM is for VJM students only.
  • All lanes are one-way. Students are encouraged to use school buses or public transportation to reduce traffic.
  • SACHS student parking is slightly reduced, with no parking on Malmo Drive. Carpooling is encouraged.

Weather permitting, construction is anticipated to be completed by mid-September. More information about the project, including detour maps, can be found here.

Your safety is our top priority. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this time. Please allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes.

If you have any questions, please contact the school office. Thank you for your continued support.

Warm regards,

Wade Michael, Principal, SACHS

Gina Anstruther, Principal, VJM
