Recognizing Orange Shirt Day in GSACRD

In Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools, our staff and students join fellow Canadians in commemorating Orange Shirt Day. This day of remembrance began in 2013 when Phyllis Webstad shared her story of having her brand new orange shirt taken away from her on her first day at a residential school, and with it her identity. It has since become a day when we stand together locally, provincially, and nationally to recognize the need for understanding the truth of our past and our future as an opportunity for reconciliation.

For Orange Shirt Day 2019, our Board of Trustees, Senior Administration, staff, and students across all of our schools proudly wore orange shirts in support of this nationwide event.
