Students Embrace Literature to Increase Understanding

Students at G.H. Primeau School requested to read, "A Stranger At Home," the sequel to "Fatty Legs" for a simple reason; these stories are so engaging, and connect with kids while relaying powerful messages. Thank you to Ms. Sansano, Grade 8 teacher, for sharing this image of her students and sparking their interest in understanding more about Truth and Reconciliation. The district-wide access to the Indigenous Literature Kits is the result of the collaboration between Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools, Regional Collaborative Delivery Service, and Edmonton Regional Learning Consortium . The acknowledgements in the kit highlight the importance of “putting literature in the libraries and in the hands of our students” and “sharing the work of indigenous role models.”
