Greater St. Albert Sports Academy Expands the Baseball-Fastball Academy to Junior High Students
[St. Albert], [Dec. 20, 2024] - Building on the incredible momentum of its elementary school program, the Greater St. Albert Sports Academy is proud to announce the launch of our dynamic Baseball-Fastball Academy for junior high students. Starting in the 2025-2026 school year, students in Grades 7-9 at École Secondaire Sainte Marguerite d'Youville, Vincent J. Maloney, and Richard S. Fowler Catholic Schools will be able to join this exciting program.
Recognized for promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and personal growth, baseball and fastball have proven to be a perfect match for the Academy’s mission: using sports as a platform to enhance academic achievement and develop life skills.
"Our goal is to offer a comprehensive program that helps athletes at all levels grow, whether new to the sport or looking to take their game to the next level," said Geoff Giacobbo, GSACRD Sports Academy Administrator. "Our partnership with Absolute Human Performance provides us with experienced coaches and allows us to focus on fundamentals. By continuing our commitment to fostering a positive and supportive team environment, we’re confident this expansion will provide an exciting pathway for young players to advance their skills."
The junior high Baseball-Fastball Academy will build on the foundational skills established in the elementary program while introducing advanced techniques and strategies tailored to older students. The program will foster a positive, engaging environment that motivates athletes to excel on and off the field.
Program Highlights:
- Available to students in Grades 7-9
- Hosted at École Secondaire Sainte Marguerite d'Youville, Vincent J. Maloney, and Richard S. Fowler Catholic Schools
- Designed to develop athletic, academic, and life skills
- Registration Dates:
- January 7, 2025: Current Sports & Rec Academy students
- January 14, 2025: All District students
- January 21, 2025: Open to the public
Registration can be completed through the PowerSchool Parent Portal under School Fees and Forms using your child's name.
