Superintendent’s Update: Students, Parents/Legal Guardians, and Staff

As we approach the sacred season of Lent in the coming weeks, I extend warm greetings to each member of our cherished Catholic educational community. Lent invites us to reflect on our actions, cultivate a spirit of gratitude, and extend kindness to those around us. By engaging in acts of love and mercy, we contribute to the vibrant tapestry of our community. I have had the opportunity to visit several of our schools since returning from the Christmas break and it is amazing to see how our students and school communities are thriving in a spirit of joy and hope.

Open House Dates

Our school open houses are in full swing! Parents and guardians can visit schools, meet the teachers, and learn about the curriculum and programs. Open houses are a great way to get a feel for the school and see your child's educational experience. All open houses are listed on our website here, with Kindergarten open houses kicking things off in February.

Registration is Open

We are pleased to announce that school registration is now open for the upcoming school year. Current families will begin receiving notification emails with registration information, and new families can visit our website to register with one of our schools. Contact the school office for assistance if you have questions about registration. Register now and ensure your child is ready for the new school year!

Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools and Tree House Playschool Announce Strategic Partnership

Starting in September, Tree House Playschool will open additional preschool program sites in Albert Lacombe Catholic School, J.J. Nearing Catholic School and École Notre Dame School in Morinville, contingent on meeting registration requirements. Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools will continue offering program unit funding (PUF) for preschool students at Bertha Kennedy Catholic School, Holy Family Catholic School and St. Kateri Tekakwitha Academy in Morinville, with several spots also available for independent learners. Read the news release here.

The 2023/2024 Alberta Education Assurance (AEA) Survey is NOW OPEN

It is survey season! The AEA gathers feedback on education quality from parents, guardians, teachers, and students. Parents/guardians will receive a mail invitation, are able to choose a paper or online survey using a Random Access Code (RAC), and will receive a separate package for each child in an eligible grade (4, 7 and 10). The survey, aligned with Alberta Education’s Assurance Framework, is tailored for students, parents, and teachers. It asks consistent questions yearly to track school performance over time.

Responses are anonymous, and results, calculated at provincial, school authority, and school levels, aid in planning and reporting. For detailed school or school authority results, contact them directly. We encourage the parents/guardians of our grade 4, 7, and 10 students to complete the Alberta Education Assurance Surveys, as they provide valuable feedback about the work happening in our school communities. Please note that this survey is different from the one you may have previously completed.

Growing in Love: Faith and Wellness Art Show

Join us for an inspiring evening at the Student Art Show for Charity on Tuesday, January 30th, from 5 - 7 pm at École Secondaire St. Albert Catholic High School. This event will showcase exceptional student artwork, featuring live music and delightful refreshments.

Each piece will be available for purchase, starting at a minimum price of $45.00. The art will continue to be displayed during the Faith and Wellness Day on January 31st, allowing our staff to view and purchase artwork.

Artwork purchased during the event can be conveniently picked up at SACHS during regular school hours on Friday, February 2nd. The entire proceeds from the art sale will be dedicated to supporting the reconstruction efforts of St. Jean Baptiste Church, emphasizing our commitment to giving back to the community.

Kindly note that this art sale is separate from the Indigenous Art Contest. We look forward to your presence at this meaningful event!

Lenten Blessings

As we soon embark on the forthcoming holy season of Lent, I would like to offer you all the following Lenten prayer from Xavier University:

Almighty and ever living God,

you invite us deeper into your world, your people, your Lent.

May this time be one of outward focus;

seeking you in those we often ignore.

Help us live a Lent focused on freedom, generosity, and encounter.

Give us hearts hungry to serve you

and those who need what we have to give. Amen

May you all have a blessed Lenten season, full of kindness and reflection on the type of world we wish to shape collectively. Thank you for entrusting your children’s education to our care. I am inspired by our shared vision to serve our students in a spirit of love, excellence, and faith and look forward to what the remainder of this year holds for your children and Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools.

With heartfelt gratitude,
Dr. Clint Moroziuk
Superintendent of Schools
