Superintendent’s Update: Students, Parents/Legal Guardians, and Staff

Tomorrow marks the beginning of June, a month dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a powerful symbol of His boundless love, mercy, and compassion for all humanity. This devotion reminds us of the infinite love Christ has for each of us and encourages us to live out His teachings in our daily lives.

June is also a time to recognize and honour the diversity and dignity within our Division community. As a Catholic school jurisdiction, we are dedicated to welcoming, loving, and supporting all students, recognizing each individual's inherent dignity and worth as a beloved child of God. Our mission is to foster an environment where every student feels welcome, respected, and loved.

As we journey through this month, let us hold in our hearts the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the principles of love and acceptance that guide us as we continue to foster a community that reflects the true spirit of Christ's love.

Prayers and Blessings

In addition to a month dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, June is a month of exams! Although students may experience anxiety as they strive to achieve all of which they are capable, they may be calmed knowing that Christ is by their side as they prepare for, and write, their final exams. I would like to offer our students the following Salesian prayer (Salesians have a devotion to the Christian education of youth, particularly those who are less privileged) from Xavier University that may be said before writing a test:

Dear Lord, as I take this exam, I thank you that my value

Is not based on my performance, but on your great love for me.

Come into my heart so that we can walk through this time together.

Help me, not only with this test, but the many tests of life that are sure to come my way.

As I take this exam, bring back to my mind everything I studied

and be gracious with what I have overlooked.

Help me to remain focused and calm, confident in the facts and in my ability,

and firm in the knowledge that no matter what happens today you are there with me.

Amen.

Parents, guardians and staff…you may also wish to pray for your children and students as they write their exams.  This is a prayer for students as they take their exams, borrowed from Marquette University, that you may consider using to give them an extra “boost”:

Lord, I pray for students who are taking final exams this time of the year,

those I know and those I do not know.

You alone know how I experienced similar times

with a sense of loneliness, challenge, anxiety and stress.

Reach out and touch the hearts and minds of students

with a sense that you are with them;

with confidence to face the challenge;

and with the realization that their anxiety and stress

can be a positive energy in their pursuit of excellence.

Give them insight to understand what they have studied

and help them to remember it when the time comes.

Help them to keep in perspective the many gifts and talents you have already given them,

that they may use them for the greater honour and glory of God.

Amen.

May God bless and keep all of you as we journey through the final month of the school year.  I am so excited to see what our students achieve! Serving our students, families, and staff is an honour and a privilege. Thank you for choosing Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools!

In Christ,

Dr. Clint Moroziuk
