Superintendent’s Update: Students, Parents/Legal Guardians, and Staff

As we approach the end of April, I am grateful for the dedication and commitment demonstrated by our Catholic educational community and anticipation for the promising days ahead for our division.  Throughout this past month, our students have shone brightly, showcasing their talents, intellect, and commitment to learning.  I extend my heartfelt gratitude to each and every member of our school community - students, staff, and families - for their contributions, support, and faithful dedication.  Thank you to families for entrusting your children to us.  We endeavour to serve with joy, hope, and faith, uplifting students to achieve all they are capable of!

Catholic Education Week

Catholic Education Week is around the corner, from May 5th - 10th. This annual event is a time to celebrate and recognize the important role that Catholic education plays in the lives of students and communities across the country. The theme for Catholic Education Week 2024, “Courage to Lead,” reminds us of the call and the responsibility to live and uphold the values of our Catholic faith, even amidst the challenges we often face. Throughout the week, schools and communities will host various events and activities to celebrate the universal gift of Catholic education. You can access a letter from the Bishops of Alberta and various other resources available in English and French.  Be sure to wear blue in support of Catholic education!

Share Your Thoughts on Cell Phone Use in Schools

Earlier this month, the Honourable Demetrios Nicolaides, Minister of Education, announced a special initiative to gather insights on school cell phone use. This is an opportunity for teachers, parents, and staff to have their voices heard. We're excited to invite you to participate in an online survey to help shape the future of cellphone policies in elementary, junior high, and senior high schools.

You can access the survey through this Survey Link. Your input is crucial and will guide potential government decisions on this matter. Please note the survey will remain open until May 3, 2024. Let's work together to make our schools better for our children!

Blessings for the Month of Mary

As we enter the month of May, a time when nature blooms with renewed vitality, we also embrace the opportunity to honour and celebrate the nurturing figures in our lives. Not only does May hold significance within the Catholic Church as a month dedicated to honouring Mary, the Mother of Jesus, but it also encompasses Mother's Day, a cherished occasion to express our deepest gratitude and admiration for the mothers, grandmothers, and maternal figures who shape our lives with boundless love and sacrifice. Just as we pay homage to the Blessed Virgin Mary for her profound role in our faith, we also take this moment to recognize the love and devotion of mothers everywhere. I would like to offer a prayer to our beloved Mother Mary as we prepare to begin the month of May:

Blessed Mother Mary,

As we embark upon the sacred month dedicated to honouring your grace and maternal love, we humbly come before you, seeking your intercession and blessings upon the students, staff, and families of our Catholic school division.

Bless, dear Mother, the students entrusted to our care, that they may grow in wisdom and grace, ever mindful of your example of humility and devotion to God. Bless our dedicated staff members, who tirelessly nurture and inspire the minds and souls of our youth. And bless our families, the cornerstone of our community, with unity, love, and abundance. In this month of May, as we honour you, our Holy Mother, we also extend a special prayer for the mothers within our community. May they be embraced by your tender care and love.

As we journey through this month of May, may your presence be felt in every corner of our schools and homes, filling us with hope, joy, and a deep sense of belonging. Through your intercession, may we continue to grow in faith, love, and service to one another, reflecting the light of Christ in all that we do. Amen.

May God bless you all abundantly as we journey through the joyful season of spring and things start turning green. And, as we continue with the playoffs…GO OILERS!

In Christ,

Dr. Clint Moroziuk
