Postponement of school athletics extended
St. Albert, Morinville, Legal, Sturgeon County – To protect the health and safety of our students and staff, Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools, St. Albert Public Schools, Conseil scolaire Centre-Nord, and Sturgeon Public Schools have made the joint decision to continue to postpone all school-based extracurricular junior and senior high athletics, as first announced on Oct. 28, 2020, until further notice.
This decision was not made lightly and is a result of the continuing increase in COVID-19 cases in our communities. We know how important athletics are to many of our students, and we hope to be able to provide our student-athletes with the opportunity to participate and compete later this school year. We will monitor the situation in the upcoming months to determine if it is safe to resume athletics, based on health guidance from the provincial government.

L'ajournement du programme d'athlétisme scolaire a été prolongé
St. Albert, Morinville, Legal, Sturgeon County – Afin d'assurer la santé de nos élèves et de notre personnel, Greater St. Albert Catholic Schools, St. Albert Public Schools, le Conseil scolaire Centre-Nord, et Sturgeon Public Schools ont pris une décision conjointe que toutes les activités de sports parascolaires au secondaire seront reportées jusqu'à nouvel ordre.
Cette décision n'a pas été prise à la légère et est le résultat de la hausse continue des cas de la COVID-19 dans nos communautés. Nous savons à quel point ces activités sont importantes pour bon nombre de nos élèves et nous espérons pouvoir offrir à nos élèves- athlètes la possibilité de participer à ces activités plus tard cette année. Nous surveillerons la situation dans les mois à venir pour déterminer s'il est sécuritaire de reprendre les sports scolaires en suivant les directives du gouvernement provincial.
